To the UP of course. This is our cabin up there in da UP north of Newberry by a few miles.
We couldn't quite get the truck through all 5 miles of mud and snow. We may have been able to, but, we might have gotten stuck and been in really big trouble.
So, we walked.
And walked.
And walked again.
I may have left the cabin key in the truck on purpose so we could walk off that pastie that we ate for dinner on Thursday.
We didn't see the moose this time, either. He left tracks once again. The deer were walking around, too. No bear yet. We also saw a partridge who seemed to think he was the king of our road and just stood there making partridge noises like he was going to scare us.
When we got home there were two tiny eensy-weensy daffodils out in the garden. Nothing else. Just two yellow daffodils. My daughters gave a pot of daffodils to me last year for Mother's Day so I planted them and forgot all about them. Well, they surprised me.
Crocuses would be taller than these little guys. This one might look tall in the photo even though it's a whole 5" tall.
I put the camera down on the ground about 6" in front of it and took the photo and wasn't sure what I would get.
I discovered a new thing yesterday. My camera has a foliage mode. Cool, eh? Be ready for lots of garden photos this year. I planted some purple pansies and ferns this afternoon. After I came inside I placed an order for more perennials for my wide-open space of a garden. Last year the cosmos took over so I didn't have to plant much. There are already tiny cosmos plants coming up and some petunias are coming back from seed. I don't remember seeing that happen before.
I will keep you "posted" on the progress of my Garden of '06!
Oh yes - knitting. I finished a pair of socks using Knit Picks Sock Garden yarn. It was so wonderful to work with. There should be more Sock Garden arriving here this week.
