Progress

Progress!

My pear tree is getting ready to explode with blossoms! We planted it last fall just outside the great-room windows so we could see it. I wasn't sure it would survive the winter with all the cold and wind we had.
Guess it did!

Knitting!

This is the back to the sweater that I posted a photo of yesterday from VK Spring/Summer '94. As you can see, I'm going with a pastel slubby-nubby yarn instead of a smooth, dark yarn. There are enough dark clothes hanging in my closet so I'm getting ready to lighten and brighten up. I took that photo earlier this afternoon. Now, I'm 1/2 way up the armholes.

Tomorrow, I'm going to attempt to make another pair of pants. Why "attempt"? Because 2 weeks ago I made a pair of brown linen pants and couldn't get them up past my hips. I guess pattern sizes have changed over the years. Sure, I'm a few pounds heavier (about 6) and about the same amount of years older, but, come on - a 6 size difference?
When I last made a pair of pants I used a size 6 pattern. Then, the next pair was a size 8. So, when I made the linen pants I used the size 8 pattern. My daughter is getting that pair even though she wears a 2 or 4. They're definitely her size. So, after reading the pattern envelope, it appears that I should be making a size 16. I looked inside one of the catalogs that I order ready-to-wear through and, according to their numbers, I should be wearing a 12. I have been buying size 8s from them for 2 years and wearing them rather comfortably.
So, what's up with all this? I just don't know.
